Jamaica

Jamaica

Famous for its three R’s: Rastafarianism, reggae and rum, Jamaica is perhaps the most popular vacation destination in the Caribbean today. The third largest island in the West Indies, Jamaica is situated in the Caribbean Sea and is part of the Greater Antilles. Roughly 240 km long and 85 km wide, Jamaica sits some 150 km south of Cuba and 180 km west of Hispaniola, the island shared by both Haiti and Dominican Republic. A former British colony, Jamaica today is known for its stunning beaches, fantastic music and a wealth of activities to enjoy.

First discovered by Christopher Columbus in 1494, Jamaica is now a tourist magnet attracting travelers from all across the globe with its dramatic terrain. Here you can find some of the most beautiful sun kissed beaches, rugged mountains, jungles, wetlands and savannas to explore. Most of the major towns and cities are located along the coast of the island, with the capital Kingston lying in the south east, while the tourist hotspot of Montego Bay lies in the northwest of the country. Divided into 14 parishes which are grouped into 3 counties, Jamaica today is a truly wonderful place to explore.

The weather here is hot and tropical most of the year, making it one of the few year-round holiday destinations in the world. While winter maybe the best time to come to the island i.e. between December and April, you can even visit Jamaica during the summer, however, be prepared for brief downpours in the afternoon. It only rains for short periods in Jamaica, meaning that you still get plenty of sunshine to enjoy.

A tropical paradise for all to enjoy, in Jamaica you can find plenty of affordable accommodations, lovely hotels and resorts and luxurious villas to enjoy. Diving, snorkeling, swiiming, horseback riding, fishing and golf are some of the many activities to indulge in out here as you party the night away to reggae tunes from the likes of Bob Marley, Jamaica’s favorite son, Shaggy and many others.

For the complete Jamaican experience you will need at least three weeks to enjoy all that this island has to offer. More than just a beautiful beach destination, vacationing in Jamaica is a delight to all your senses!
