Things to do in Aruba

Things to do in Aruba Blessed with fantastic sunny weather all year round and many a tropical beach, the tiny island of Aruba is one of the Caribbean’s hottest destinations. A popular tourist getaway, this island offers something for everyone with plenty of things to do out here. The prefect location for all kinds of water based sports and activities; you can also have some fantastic land adventures in Aruba as well.

For those who enjoy exploring life beneath the deep blue sea, Aruba has some wonderful diving and snorkeling sites. Boasting the largest sunken shipwreck in the Caribbean, the offshore water clarity here is great with underwater visibility up to 100 feet away. There are 42 major dive sites spread out across Aruba, with the waters here filled with a plethora of marine life including manta rays, eels, a variety of tropical fish and barracudas. Diving is offered for all levels from beginners to experts, with certification courses on hand as well. If you prefer not to get wet, take a dive in a semi-submersible boat or submarine to catch a glimpse of this gorgeous underwater world.

Sticking to water based sports; if swimming is not your thing then you can enjoy windsurfing, sailing, kayaking, jet skiing, fishing, banana boat rides, and kite boarding as well. The windsurfing here is world class with calm seas and consistent winds. If you are an avid windsurfer come to the island in June or November for the Hi-Winds Windsurfing Competition and the Aruba Catamaran Regatta. Sailing is also a very popular activity in Aruba with many local travel companies arranging for special sailing tours of the island. Parasailing is on hand for the more adventurous, allowing you to take in the island’s stunning beauty from high up in the sky. With plenty of beaches to enjoy, if you want you can simply bake in the sun!

Landover’s should definitely try out Aruba’s exciting nightlife. You can try your luck gambling or even take in a Las Vegas-styled Latin show. The restaurants on the island are excellent as well and offer a great variety of international cuisines. If you are an avid golf enthusiast, then hit the fairways at the Aruba Golf Club or the Tierra del Sol for a fantastic time. The Tierra del Sol is Aruba only one championship 18-hole golf course. Those who want to have fun can check out Adventure Golf, the only miniature golf course on the island.

If you are the adventurous type, there is lots to do on land. Take a jeep tour of Aruba’s northern coast or horseback ride this deserted outback. You can even rent out a mountain bike to explore this unique and intriguing terrain. For those who don’t mind getting dirty, a hike through the Arikok National Park is well worth it. Take in Aruba’s fascinating ecosystem and get the chance to do some wildlife watching along the way. This park is home to iguanas, goats and a variety of local plant life.
