Things to do in Aruba
Blessed with fantastic sunny weather all year round and many a tropical
beach, the tiny island of Aruba is one of the Caribbean’s hottest
destinations. A popular tourist getaway, this island offers something
for everyone with plenty of things to do out here. The prefect location
for all kinds of water based sports and activities; you can also have
some fantastic land adventures in Aruba as well.
For those who enjoy exploring life beneath the deep blue sea, Aruba
has some wonderful diving and snorkeling sites. Boasting the largest
sunken shipwreck in the Caribbean, the offshore water clarity here
is great with underwater visibility up to 100 feet away. There are
42 major dive sites spread out across Aruba, with the waters here
filled with a plethora of marine life including manta rays, eels,
a variety of tropical fish and barracudas. Diving is offered for
all levels from beginners to experts, with certification courses
on hand as well. If you prefer not to get wet, take a dive in a
semi-submersible boat or submarine to catch a glimpse of this gorgeous
underwater world.
Sticking to water based sports; if swimming is not your thing then
you can enjoy windsurfing, sailing, kayaking, jet skiing, fishing,
banana boat rides, and kite boarding as well. The windsurfing here
is world class with calm seas and consistent winds. If you are an
avid windsurfer come to the island in June or November for the Hi-Winds
Windsurfing Competition and the Aruba Catamaran Regatta. Sailing
is also a very popular activity in Aruba with many local travel
companies arranging for special sailing tours of the island. Parasailing
is on hand for the more adventurous, allowing you to take in the
island’s stunning beauty from high up in the sky. With plenty
of beaches to enjoy, if you want you can simply bake in the sun!
Landover’s should definitely try out Aruba’s exciting
nightlife. You can try your luck gambling or even take in a Las
Vegas-styled Latin show. The restaurants on the island are excellent
as well and offer a great variety of international cuisines. If
you are an avid golf enthusiast, then hit the fairways at the Aruba
Golf Club or the Tierra del Sol for a fantastic time. The Tierra
del Sol is Aruba only one championship 18-hole golf course. Those
who want to have fun can check out Adventure Golf, the only miniature
golf course on the island.
If you are the adventurous type, there is lots to do on land. Take
a jeep tour of Aruba’s northern coast or horseback ride this
deserted outback. You can even rent out a mountain bike to explore
this unique and intriguing terrain. For those who don’t mind
getting dirty, a hike through the Arikok National Park is well worth
it. Take in Aruba’s fascinating ecosystem and get the chance
to do some wildlife watching along the way. This park is home to
iguanas, goats and a variety of local plant life.
