Windsurfing in Barbados
One of the most popular sports in Barbados has to be windsurfing.
With an ideal tropical climate, constant warm trade winds and easy
to surf waves, this tiny island in the Eastern Caribbean is one of
the hottest windsurfing spots in the region. According to experts,
the windsurfing in Barbados is considered to be among the best on
the planet as well.
If you wish to try your hand at windsurfing, head on to the eastern
and southern coasts of the island which have favorable waves that
for perfect for both novices and experts alike. The best time to
go windsurfing here is between the months of November and April.
However, you can also windsurf the rest of the year. And with many
rental shops and companies in the area, finding a board is not a
problem too.
With windsurfers coming here from all across the globe, Barbados
is also on the World Cup Windsurfing Circuit. Hosting the Barbados
Windsurfing Championships every year in mid-January, this West Indian
island is now an international windsurfing mecca for many.
Silver Sands Beach on the Southern Coast of Barbados and Bathsheba
on the Eastern Coast are both fantastic destinations to go windsurfing.
The waves here are ideal and often allow windsurfers to reach speeds
of up to 50 knots. Silver Sands has also been rated as one of the
best places for advanced windsurfing in the area. The skill rating
here is between 5 and 6. Though a great place for advanced windsurfers
beginners can also learn out here.

lessons for beginners and intermediate students. Windsurfing lessons
cost around US$150, while kite surfing lessons are more pricier
at US$ 205.
