For such a tiny island Dominica offers a number of activities to enjoy. There are plenty of things to do in Dominica, especially if you like spending time in the outdoors. The hiking is also superb in Dominica especially in the island’s interior, where there are numerous trails to choose from. There are short hiking trials to Trafalgar Falls and Emerald Pool, while the Cabrits National Parks also offers a couple of short trails. The Northern Forest Reserve and the Morne Trois Pitons National Park offer some more challenging hikes with long meandering paths through some thick dense forestation. These hikes are for the more serious trekkers who don’t mind roughing it out a bit in pristine jungle conditions. If you are interested in hiking in Dominica, contact the Forestry Division, which publishes a map of many hiking trails on the island.
You can also enjoy some excellent kayaking and mountain biking in Dominica as well. Head to Soufriere in the south of Roseau, where you can rent kayaks and mountain bikes. There are also some good kayaking opportunities available in Portsmouth particularly at Indian River.
