Grenada

One of the smallest independent countries in the western hemisphere, Grenada covers a total land area of just 132 sq miles. Located in the southeastern Caribbean Sea, to the north of Grenada you will find Trinidad and Tobago, while Saint Vincent and the Grenadines lies to the south. An idyllic tropical paradise, Grenada is a wonderful place to escape to if you are looking for a less touristy vacation.

Comprising of three islands and some smaller uninhabited isles, the largest island here is Grenada Island at 313 sq km. Home to a majority of the population, here you can find the capital, Saint George’s. Carriacou is the second largest island in Grenada at 13 sq km; however, it is the largest of the Grenadines islands that lie in between Grenada and Saint Vincent. Petit Martinique lies northeast of Carriacou and is just one mile in diameter. There are two lovely guest houses here to stay at if you want some peace and quiet.

Not your typical Caribbean destination, Grenada is great to visit with its relaxed atmosphere and laidback tempo. A superb destination for nature enthusiasts, in the interior of the main island of Grenada you can find lush valleys, verdant peaks and some beautiful waterfalls that open up on to stunning white sandy beaches.

Saint George’s is the tourist hub in the country and is also an important cruise ship port. You can find many lovely old colorful colonial buildings along the waterfront here making Saint George one of the prettiest harbors in the Caribbean.

Grand Anse is the main resort town on the island with many beautiful beaches surrounding the area. As you head inland, Grenada’s terrain is heavily forested and rugged with the extinct volcano Mount St Catherine located in the northern region.
