The gorgeous honey colored sandy beaches and clear blue waters make Guadeloupe a favorite Caribbean getaway. The various attractions and beautiful resorts make it a one of a kind tropical paradise. While you are at Guadeloupe, there is so much that you can do. It’s an island with diversity and history and you will find so much to do.

Some beaches in Guadeloupe are private and owned by various hotels; otherwise most are public and open to all. Most of the water is protected and the sea is usually calm and quite making it perfect for a relaxing swim. Some of the popular beaches are Saint Franois, Le Moule, Grande Anse and Ste. Anne. The facilities at most public beaches might be limited however; hotels and resorts do provide beach equipments. The beaches offer a beautiful getaway to many with their warm and turquoise blue waters and shores lined with palm trees. These beaches usually provide cool breeze in contrast to the otherwise balmy tropical weather.

From the beach of Malendure to the islands of Ilets Pigeon, you can go canoe kayaking, enjoy speeding on a motorboat or simply go for a dive and snorkeling at the island. Its surrounding zone is protected and is a reserve called Cousteau, named after the famous Commandant Cousteau.

There are also some casinos located in St. Franois and Gosier and the gambling facilities are available for those who are 21 and above. These casinos have blackjack, slot machines, chemin-de-fer and the American roulette.

Basse-Terre has various other attractions too. If you are all for exploring the island then there is a sugar factory in Compagnie Fermiere de Grosse Montagne near Basse-Terre that is worth exploring or you can go trekking at the various ecological sites and get amazed by the natural beauty all around. There is up to 6 acre of botanical garden located near Petit Bourg with almost over a 100 species of various plants and flowers. You can also try some of the delicious rum of the island at Musee du Rhum near Ste. Rose. The islands rich history is displayed in its museums.

Guadeloupe serves some of the most delicious food in the Caribbean with hundreds of restaurants specializing in various French Creole cuisines and international dishes. Celebrate your getaway to this paradise with the international delicacies or grab a bite at the local street vendor if you are low on budget. The many food choices in Guadeloupe are both easy on your taste buds and wallets.

The beaches at the west side of the island have shallow waters with gorgeous coral formations and fascinating marine life. Fishermen can also be found at these beaches. The waters at Guadeloupe beaches have crystal clear waters and appealing beauty making the coastline a much desired tourist destination and a lovely Caribbean retreat. The beach resorts are built directly on the sea and you can take part in the various aquatic activities like diving, snorkeling, wind surfing, swimming in the warm salty waters and much more.
