Things to do in Sint Maarten
Sint Maarten is a wonderful destination to vacation in the Caribbean
with plenty of things to do and enjoy. The beaches on the island
are beautiful with the shores a lovely sandy white and the waters
a clear turquoise blue. There are plenty of beach resorts with lots
of activities to enjoy, while if you are looking for some peace
and quiet, more secluded beaches are also on hand. Dawn Beach/Oyster
Pond is where Dutch Sint Maarten and the
French Saint Martin meet.
One of the finest beaches in the area Dawn Beach offers some excellent
swimming and snorkeling opportunities.
Fro some diving head to Proselyte Reef which is a few miles south of the capital Philipsburg. This reef was named after the British frigate the HMS Proselyte that sank here in 1802 in around 15 meters of water. Aside from this shipwreck to explore, there are around 10 dive sites in the area, making it s popular destination for divers to come here. Here you can spot a plethora of marine life including dozens of brightly colored tropical fish and striking coral reefs with caverns to explore. There are a number of dive shops in Sint Maarten, which offer open water certification courses along with night dives for the more experienced divers.
Some other activities to enjoy on Sint Maarten include golfing
at the island’s 18-hole Mullet Bay golf course, while horseback
riding is also on hand for the riding enthusiast. Boogie boarding
is also available at Mullet Bay.
For avid sailors Sint Maarten also offers some world class sailing.
Visit Bobby’s Marina to enjoy a three hour sailing expedition
aboard an America’s Cup racing yacht. These boats are fast and
sleek as they glide through the waters of the Caribbean. Sunfish sail
boats can also be rented at the marina.
